The segment returns in the 2020 reboot, structurally closer to the 19 shows with additional character/story developments. Their spin-off series, in turn, spun-off another series called Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain (adding Elmyra Duff) which did not fare well with the audience or crew. However, while they had their own series, they still sporadically appeared in Animaniacs. In 1995, they were later spun-off into their own series with the same title, that lasted until 1998. A running gag for this segment is where Brain asks Pinky if he is pondering what he is pondering to which Pinky usually replies with something drastically different from Brain's thoughts. Pinky and the Brain is a recurring segment on Animaniacs focusing on Pinky and The Brain, two genetically-spliced lab mice who come up with various plans to take over the world. But it's teens and adults who will fully appreciate the series for the gem that it is: a clever combination of character-based humor (Pinky and Brain are mousy versions of the quintessential odd couple), witty writing, and underlying parodies of everything from politics to classic literature to pop culture. PINKY AND THE BRAIN offers plenty of humor for the 7- to 10-year-old set, who will enjoy the show's physical comedy, as well as some of its subtle satirical tones and tongue-in-cheek writing style. Despite its relatively brief run, this emmy-winning cartoon series' outrageously funny cast of characters, superb writing, and clever use of parody gained it a devoted fan base of both kids and adults.
